A Transfer In ...

Postby Cane from the Bend » Mon Mar 28, 2022 6:42 pm

--------------------------------------------------------------

Miami gets an interesting grab ...

6 ft 4 inch, 245lb Sr Linebacker, Mitchell Agude is coming in from UCLA.

He was an integral part of the Bruins D the last two seasons. When he chose not to declare for the draft, and announced his return for 2022, many penned him as the defensive leader, and likely team captain.

His declaring for the Transfer Portal took everyone by surprise.

When looking into how it fell out this way, you just need to get an overview of the latest hires at UCLA.

On Feb. 16th, it was reported that UCLA was to hire Bill McGovern as the new DC.
The next day, it became official, and Bill McGovern was announced as being on staff.
Mitchell Agude then declared his entrance to the Transfer Portal, that very same day.

Agude chose Miami over Oregon, Tennessee and Washington.

Considered an Outside LB edge rusher; Miami is considering him at D-End.

He certainly has the size for it, and the athleticism to create issues for opposing offenses, with 54 tackles, 2 sacks and 4 forced fumbles last year.

Mountaineer Fan s are getting uneasy about the lack of progress on the field……. The Mountaineers have hired a new Offensive Coordinator and give full control of that side of the ball to him.

Things must improve or else Coach Brown will join the list of transfers. 8)

West Virginia
Who emerges as the long-term solution under center?: The Mountaineers have been known for dynamic offenses over the years, but the Neal Brown era has been a disaster on that front. The only Big 12 school to rank behind West Virginia in both total offense and scoring offense was Kansas. With maligned quarterback Jarret Doege transferring to Western Kentucky after two seasons, the Mountaineers have an open quarterback competition. Unfortunately, there aren't any obvious answers at the position.

Garrett Greene served as primary backup to Doege, but he has thrown just 30 passes in two years. Will Crowder completed both his pass attempts against LIU in a redshirt season. The dark horse is freshman Nicco Marchiol, the lone blue-chip in the quarterback room who had interest from several top programs. Failing to turn the offense around in Year 4 could spell the end of the Brown era.

I see where some are saying JT Daniels could find his Transfer-In to Morgan Town.

There are obvious competitors for his services.

I heard that Agude's Transfer to Miami "Might Have" had something to do with his interest in Video Game Programming, and someone suggesting he could be receive a NIL deal with a VR Gaming company. If this is his chosen vocation, should he go in a different direction than Pro-Ball after College [in the unlikelihood we're assuming he wouldn't get drafted/or even future after Sports], this would fall into his wheelhouse. Especially if he could get an internship during the off~season.

Anyway; I mention that, because I wonder if Daniels is holding off his Transfer announcement until somebody steps in with a lucrative NIL deal.

I’ve heard and read where WVU is ‘in the mix’ for Daniels…… even to the point the Mountaineers are in the top 3.

That would tell me the Graham Harrell hire as O-Coordinator/Asst Head Coach is at least getting the Mountaineers a look by some high level talent.
