The school weren't suppose to be involved. This is all on the NCAA for failure to act before it started when Congress told them to do so. They are so afraid that they will lose money that they are going to end up burning the whole thing down.

Hell, why not sign-up with the Longhorns, get your 50k, spend it, and then head on over to the Compliance Office and sign-up for the Transfer Portal…..

They are going to figure out really fast that their needs to be guidelines. Right now they are highlighting the downside to the schools. Wait until lots of these kids don't get picked up out of the transfer portal. Also how many juco kids don't even get a shot now? It is really too bad. This could have been a positive thing for all involved, but at least now you get to see the real dirty players operate in the light and it isn't all that flattering. The question is do the dirty players drag everyone down or do the rest lift them up. We will find out in the next couple years.

USC fired a coach in the middle of the season, they just signed the 110th best class (that may not be exact, but close). LSU signed the 70 something best. Lots of schools thinking they were fixing their issues have created lots more but firing the coach before the season is over.

As I said that I just read that Brian Schottenstein said he was starting a 5013c no profit to fund NIL to players at Ohio State. Boosters have always be the life blood and biggest problems for athletics at major college football. Looks like Ohio State is going to wallow in the mud too.

Considering the current direction and this type of behavior from the moneybags down in Austin, I suspect things will get worse before they get better…….. because if the game is for sale, they’ll be those with money and to them, ‘good intentions’, buying what they want because it’s for sale, but also those not with good intentions buying what they want because it’s for sale.

Sad thing is, if ‘College Football’ does come to its senses it’s going to take a few years for them to get there, and then a few more to clean up this mess……. as of right now the ‘student’ in the reference ‘Student-Athlete’ is dead, education has next to nothing to do with it. :|

And there at the end, is precisely what I've been saying the reason for the Government's sudden involvement:

At least there is a legal, TAXABLE and compliant bound solution for athletes to get what is rightfully there.

When all of this started, I said this is what the Government's interest was.

And look at how he ended that statement.

"for athletes to get what's rightfully there."

Not, "What is rightfully theirs."

Because to a politician, they believe they have first dibs on everything.

Anytime the government is involved they want to help......help separate you from your money and redirect that cash to serve their interest. It is the new American way.

I do believe the schools shouldn't be able to direct any money from anyone to the athlete, that is how the schools have been operating the last 70 years. Just then they used the booster to deflect the light off of them and then punished the kid if they got caught. The kids should pick their school based on the school and what is best for them. Then when they get there if they want to do an add deal for Joe's Ford dealership, they can do it.
