The problem with Cincinnati is the eye test...

....Cincinnati played no P5 team and had an SOS an order of magnitude easier than those the CFP ranked above them.

....Cincinnati did not leave a dominant impression in their final games...they snuck by both by three points.

Cincinnati needed those late wins to be impressive...they were not.

Though, the Strength of Schedule is shaky, when the CFP Committee chooses the ranks of the teams in the top 5, they themselves evaluate a relative scale based from.

When a Power5 team sits idle, or is suddenly in the Top 20 after not being ranked; because that team is going to play, or has been on, the schedules of the Teams the Committee chooses to be in the Top 10 . . . one starts to question the reliability of those position placements.

This especially comes to mind, when it is the media who is not talking about the legitimacy of a team one week; then all of a sudden, that team is ranked #22 and the media tells us how a team in the Top 4 played them, so it qualifies their inclusion to the playoff

I'm okay with the Top 4 being what it is, because of what those teams have accomplished.

I'm not okay with disqualifying a team based on specialized criteria --- Well, no that's not true.

I am Okay with it, so long as they are transparent that "that" is precisely what they are doing. Mainly, due to the obvious structure of it.

Their saying it is anything other than what we really know it to actually be, is just taking us all for halfwits.

The criteria that they use is simple. Which teams that are playing ok can we put in that will draw big numbers and create matchups that are attractive. Then the seeding is based on who you want to see in the final two. Cincinnati could beat 3 power 5 teams including a top 10 and they aren't getting in.

Cincinnati would be underdogs to every team ranked in the CFP above them...

Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida would roll them...let's see how they do against Georgia in the Peach Bowl.

No one is suggesting otherwise ...

Let's just not pretend they would have a chance to be included in the playoff, even if their schedule were ostensibly better.

Then again; even if they do beat Georgia, it would net them nothing, except a marginalized pat on the back, and a right to a self perceived/self ordained national title.

They'll be as recognized as UCF; apart from the media talking heads who will leverage the playoff expansion hortatory.

Which is precisely what we'll get if Georgia loses.
