Curmudgeon Signal in the Night Sky

Postby billybud » Thu Oct 10, 2019 10:54 pm

I am sending up the Curmudgeon bat signal for Donovan....missing so far for October.

APBs sent out to Portland bars, Alaska fishing charters, Elizabeth Warren volunteer halls, and Boise State playoff telephone lobbying boiler rooms...no joy.

I hope he is ok. It isn't like him to be missing for 10 days.

I am worried about Donovan. He missed picks last week. He has never done that to my knowledge. Derek and him have met personally- Derek do you know anything?

I believe this to be "our" Donovan based on things I know about him and from a picture he posted on here a while back and a a facebook picture that matches the one he posted on CFP;. The timeline works, he passed on Oct. 1 and also from the fact that Donovan hasn't missed posting on CFP more that 3 days, that I have found, since he joined. I hope it is not true. Derek has met him personally so he should be able to confirm, but I wouldn't post this if I weren't sure it was him. RIP to someone I have considered a friend for the past 13+ years. (Donovan was part of the old board too, just under a different name) I looked forward to seeing what Donovan had to say when I would logon to CFP daily. RIP to my friend.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had previously sent this post to Spence by private message; but felt it warranted view here in the main board.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what I feared was true, and had been trying to prepare myself for it over the last several days.

I am reminded to be humbled, then. Very sad news to get.

He I will miss.

We contacted each other several times through personal messaging, and I feel like I was able to get to know him outside of our football world.

Out of respect, I will keep his scores going in the fantasy game, as he had previously expressed to me how much the game entertained him.

Watching you two badger each other (in fun) was always amusing.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Yeah...on the old board...into the 90's, I was "Johnboy"....

Donovan was an interesting man...LDS..BYU...big family... Starting in the first years of this board, about 2007-2008, we began PM'ing each other...I was trying to beat the "Big C"...he had a family tragedy.

Our board discussions for 13 years about SOS were a reflexive ritual...

He won’t be replaced on this board or in life I suspect.
