Billybud is locked;

Donovan = 27
Derek = 15
Billybud = 12

Also, I have Mountainman and Dossenator listed as wanting in. That makes 6 of us so far. I contacted a few others through Personal Message to see if they'd be interested. I'll give a day or 2 before the first round of picking will begin.

Of course, Derek picks the mean so his advantage is greatest in both directions....but Mr. Billybud cuts him off at the South end....and of course, I am clueless.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Not quite sure I understand. What does the number we picked represent?

Tomorrow evening I'll be at a baseball game. I'll check back in after the game to see where we're at.

I've chosen a number between 1 and 30.

The person who gets closest to the number I preselected will go first in the picking order when choosing our teams.

The second closest to the correct number will have the second pick, the third closest; third pick, and so on.

Since I am running the competition, I have chosen to go last in the picking order.

If you read this post without any context, one might think you had several too many beers at the 'old ball game.'

One of my favorite posts somewhere on this site, is of Mountainman after a bowl game.

He literally posted a comment, then the very next reply was him quoting himself.

I believe the Moon was Shining bright that evening.

Nah....Mountainman is a modern guy....shine is old school.

He just made a natural error about what "between the hash marks" is about.

The Founding Fathers of our nation were obviously men of intellect, education, experience and wisdom as evidenced by their inspiration of the Fifth Amendment, which from the very beginning, was crafted, named and appropriately conjoined to the consumption and consequences of a Fifth of Liquor.

Now back to the business at hand....... now the rules state that the ‘number’ is between 1 and 30 and therefore those two numbers are eliminated from choice. So, after considering Elvira’s findings, which revealed a reoccurring 10 character term often used when referring to a Tropical Storm, I have arrived at my selection.

By applying my inherit hillbilly logical and reasoning along with quantitative analysis my choice is........ 19

P.S. My associates with whom I was passing around that Mason Jar never mentioned that the very smooth clear liquid contained within was double distilled. :wink:

Sounds fun, I used to run a similar style game. Hope you guys have been enjoying the summer. I'm in the process of moving but new job no longer requires working Saturdays. It should be a much more enjoyable Autumn for me.

If I'm not too late to this....I'll take number 23.

You got in, just under the whistle. I was logging in to close the entry phase so we could start selecting teams.

The number I had picked was 14.

Because Dossenator and Highfly had both chosen numbers in the difference of nine from 14, I put Doss ahead in the selection process since he joined first ... hope that's okay Highfly.

And thus, the picking order by round will go:

Derek = 15
Billybud = 12
Montainman = 19
Dossenator = 5
Highfly = 23
Donovan =27
Cane

We have 7 people playing, which is the largest field we've had. All prior times we had 6 participants. It ought to make things more interesting.

With this many playing, we will have 8 rounds.
So 8 teams per conference.

Choose wisely, as those bottom teams may pull your numbers down.
20 days to the Season Start, I'm ready for this!

With that, we are officially in the Team Selection process.

Although I have a pretty good idea of who you will most likely take --- Derek, you're up.
