Miami -v- Wiscosin

Postby Cane from the Bend » Thu Dec 27, 2018 6:24 pm

The key to this game will be offensive production.

If Miami regresses to the quick 3 and outs, Wisconsin's running game will tire the defense out.

Miami is next to the top in tackles for loss. But, if this defense is on the field too long, they'll wear down, and Wisconsin will sit comfortably on the ball, as that plays into their wheelhouse.

Special Teams for the `Canes has to play better.

Kickoffs out of bounds are no good. Giving Wisconsin good field placement to start their drives.

And we need to be able to punt deep, and make the go the full length of the field.

Defense has to play fast and physical. Do not give up big runs.

Wisconsin will need to mix up their offense a little. Relying too much on Taylor will hurt them. They need to get some pass production to keep the defense spread.

Yep, just as I was saying ...

Do not kick the ball out of bounds.

And Wisconsin needs to be able to throw.

This is exactly the way Wisconsin wanted to start the game.

The Wisconsin placekicker looks like he is 54 years old.

This game is playing out just as I was expecting it would ...

The `Canes offense is just too unproductive. They have been this way all season. Wisconsin is doing precisely what I said they needed to do to win. And Miami is not playing competitively enough to flip the momentum.

The defense looked good on this last set.

I didn’t see this coming. This isn’t the usual Whisky team. They aren’t very good.

It was the typical Wisconsin team. Miami is just that much worse.

Richt needs to go.

Miami reacted and their reactions didn't seem to reflect the game. I think that is game time coaching. Two teams representing comparable conferences. Both with so-so records. Their have been a lot of bowl games like that this year. Having one canceled may have been the best thing, at least someone notices, for 15 minutes.

I think that Richt has his hands tied, but I also agree that he's just not that good of a head coach. A good Offensive coordinator, but not a CEO.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Richt is listed as Co-Offensive Coordinator; but Richt is the one doing all of the offensive play calling during the games.

Georgia's first year under Richt, they finished #21 in Offense in the country
Georgia's second year under Richt, the Offense finished #49
Georgia's third year with Richt, their Offense finished #58

By year six, Georgia's Offense was ranked #90 nationally.

The Offensive Play Caller for Georgia during those seasons, was head coach Mark Richt.

He was heavily criticized for his lackluster offensive schemes, and was pressured to hired a True Offensive Coordinator. However, instead of hiring a fresh mind; Richt promoted his Quarterback Coach to OC, who basically ran most of the same offensive design.

So, seeing the same pattern here, where the Offense is continuing to regress. If Richt chose to hire from within the program again, it would likely be Running Backs Coach/Co-Offensive Coordinator, Thomas Brown [who has had conflicts with some players, going so far as to call some players cancer].

If Mark Richt were to choose to promote his current Quarterbacks Coach to Offensive Coordinator as he did @ Georgia, then he would be promoting his son Jon Richt.

Sometimes things are simply precisely what they appear to be.
