a most excellent adaptation of Donovan speak....

"Understood...... and during my recent amateurish, inept and sanctimonious effort to unravel the current structure and direction of College Football in order to develop a more definable and efficient way of selecting the participants using an ‘on the field’ determination of a ‘National Champion’ I have concluded....... either the brilliance or the stupidity or somewhere in between, of the money-changers, profiteers and those who govern College Football has created a structure and environment that such effort, without their commitment to a massive restructuring, is futile in that either an unequal number of games or subjectivity would be unavoidable."

Question....Is it contagious?

Nope. Not from me. I'm not smart enough for those big words.

I don't like the DH either. We had it in high school and from a guy who spent lots of innings crouched down with catchers gear, I didn't like those guys.

I began my quest as a simpleminded Scarecrow, hanging on a post in a cornfield beside a Yellow Brick Road. When one day, a person looking for answers came along. I joined that person in the search....... and ended up in the Emerald City reciting an ancient Greek’s theorem.

That explains me then. Because I dearly love both moonshine and cfb- not necessary in that order.

Donovan...I will never again attend a day time game in Florida in August....

We are at an age where we are past sitting cheek to jowl in the heat and humidity of August.

Hmmmmm, more talk from media folks AND NOW...... even Conference Commissioners and University Presidents are speaking out about expanding the College Football Playoff. One model mentions an Eight Team Bracket, populated by the Power 5 Conference Champions and three selected at large teams.

Interestingly enough, they all mention concern about the ‘promise’ of the CFP Selection Committee Methodology to select the “BEST 4 TEAMS”......... appears this thing has some momentum and push. We’ll see. 8)

I don't like the 3 at large model. That is a carrot to the group of five, but in reality it is away to populate the playoff with ratings friendly teams. If you can't win your conference you should not go.

They’ve got the same issues I ran up against attempting to populate a balanced bracket with 5 conferences......

Well, the latest pushback on the notion of an Eight Team Playoff with Conference Champions having an guaranteed spot is the concern about not having the BEST teams vying for the title. ‘Who wants an 8 - 4 Conference Champion to get a guaranteed chance???’, is their question.

Which is exactly why expanding the playoff does not change the current model.

Last year, UCF finished undefeated, yet finished #12 in the playoff poll. Where, if there had been an 8 team playoff, UCF would not have been one of the selected teams.

As for the dissatisfaction of the Committee's emphasis on the 4 Best Teams; the Commissioners are just trying to save face, so the Playoff's this year are justified by promoting the idea that the 4 most deserving teams should be in.

But let's face it. The Committee is goat who is being scaped for the sake of the Conference Commissioners. Use the Committed as the Bus' Speed Bump, even though they are adhering to the guidelines set before them by those riding the Bus.
