USC -v- Washington State

I don't get what Mike Leach was doing ...

There's under 2 minutes left, you have the ball, with a timeout, inside your opponents 25, and you're down by 3 points ... also, you are on the road.

Why on Earth do you run the ball three straight times up the middle, and not even attempt one pass, knowing it's the bread & butter of your team?

It bit `em ...

They lined up for the tying field goal, and it was blocked.

Final Score:
USC, 39
WSU,36

So disappointing WSU did not win. Entertaining game. Leach has no problem not punting and then, in the end, he becomes Mr. Conservative. They will win some games this year.

I've never understood Leach's coaching style. Not a fan.

Conservative coaches, playing to take it to OT, will sometimes keep it in the middle of the field on running plays...for hashmark placement for the FG to come...and to leave not much time on the clock for the opponent to move into FDG range.

But it was not a coaching call last night...Minshew checked into that stuffed run from a called pass play.

Minshew said it was on him and was a stuoid call....but still, it could have easily gone to OT if the FG had not been blocked.

Even though it was Washington State plus 4.5. Glad I teased it to Trojans minus 1.5. I had a feeling Cougs would keep it close. Not that close though.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

That only accounts for one play ... three straight runs up the middle is on Leach.

He has never been the conservative type. And all of a sudden, he was nothing but conservative at the end of that last series. This was not all called at the line.
