Opening week showcases differences..

Differences between haves and have nots....

When teams are scoring near 60 points or over 60 points...and their opponents look like baby seals being clubbed, just red spots in the snow, it points up the huge differences...Not fun games to watch unless you are the kind that likes to watch a grass munching Bambi being shot from a tree stand 15 yards away).

UCF puts up 56 on hapless UConn...Oklahoma already has 63 and the subs are in...TCU has 55...Clemson 48 (and those games aren't over..well..hee hee).

You make my point so definitively. We all get the lopsidedness and painful exhibition you mention. All forgotten next week and we count it as a win just as though everyone was playing Alabama or whatever that high school Clemson is playing.

The West Coast is just starting its afternoon games. Nobody cares, I just mention it in passing.

I so wanted Texas A & M to falter.

There are better matches on this week....Auburn-Washington...FSU-VT...Texas-Maryland...Notre Dame-Michigan, etc.

Go Appalacian State! Up on Penn State...but it is early.

Appy State tied at the half with Penn State. I would like to see them go to another Big 10 stadium and find a way to pull off the upset. There have been some close games in the Big 10 that werent suppose to be. Illinois was lucky to beat a Kent State picked to be one of the worst 2 teams in all of FBS. Maryland Texas has resumed and Texas is looking to drive for the win. Will see if Maryland can make a stand on defense and pull this one off. And it looks like they have, as Maryland recovers a fumble with under 3 mins to go. At mid field so still time for Texas but a first down should end it.

Washington defense has kept them in the game, and the offense is starting to show signs of life. This should be a fun second half.

Maryland gets a pick after allowing Texas to convert on 4th down. Game over and Maryland gets the upset.
The feel good story coming out of this one is them taking the field with only 10 players to start the game and Texas declining the delay of game penalty. Kuddos to Texas for showing class on what has been a very difficult and disturbing story from College Park.

UW/Auburn coming down to the wire, and USC is barely ahead of UNLV early in the 3rd quarter.

And has the dinner hour approaches in the East/Midwest....Boise/Troy kicking off.

Auburn is getting beat on the line. The Offense has no answer for the Husky D-line.
If Washington can protect the ball and score here, they could win the game.

And, Yeah, UNLV is hanging around. They are only down by 12., in the 4th.
1 Big play could shift the momentum they need to put on the pressure.

Boise St is looking good right now. Up 28-7, that last touchdown catch was a physical one. The receiver got hammered when the ball hit his hands. A tough grab to pull that one in.

Troy is likely going to get beat by 40 in this game.

Talk about Showcases & remarkable finishes ... Penn State just saved their season by Interception.

An Overtime win vs App State isn't going to impress the pollsters. But they have the Pedigree, according to Donovan's laws of injustice.

Anyway, an interception in the end zone to win is still a win. A close win, as that ball could could just as easily have been a reception. It was thrown into double coverage, though, the receiver was right there. He just didn't turn in time with the ball, and the defender jumped into the lane.

Either way, fantastic finish.

Ah yes ... and now the fly over!

The fighter jets are about to fly over Notre Dame Stadium.

I just heard them go over my house. They'll be taking their pass by soon.

The Wolverine D started strong on the first few plays, but the Irish offense got rolling, and scored a quick Touchdown.

Not sure if the Fighter plane pilots are just bored, or what have you. They keep flying around the area.

They've passed over top my house about 7 times now [No Exaggeration].

SMU cannot do anything to pick up the pass pressure by North Texas.

The Mean Green are up 17-0 lead, and just forced a punt.

Okay Donovan ... all of your elitism and entitlement talk is now in question.

Tell me; What on Earth is that Throne on the Broncos sideline!?

O' I see ... it's Boise's version of Turnover swag.

It's the turnover thrown.

This was a great finish. App State made a great comeback to tie, and even briefly lead this game. Between Penn State and Mich State barely winning at home and Michigan getting beat at Notre Dame, the questions about this conference could resurface again. It has not been a showcase weekend for the Big 10.

Noticing alot of weather delays this weekend. Thunderstorms seem to be littering the nation right now. Had some mild t-storms in this area earlier today but nothing sustained or severe.
