Cotton Bowl Ohio State - Southern California

Postby donovan » Sat Dec 30, 2017 8:21 am

1. OSU was dominating. The defense was as a good as any I have seen this year. Eight sacks is a lot.
2. I thought this was Classic Rose Bowl Matchup. I live in the past.
3. Does Darnold have a paid ESPN staff to talk about how great he is? I suspect he is better than the support he gets, but how would you know. Not just this game, all season.
4. Coach Spence, congratulations.

I had been wondering about USC and their competition after watching the Irish dismantle them...49-14

USC scored a lot in their games but also allowed a lot of scoring....#61 in Scoring Defense...#68 in Total Defense.

Total domination. I looked at the stats. I was surprised to see Darnold had over 300 yards passing. He was on his backside most of the night if not turning the ball over. Now, if Bama lays an egg, wonder what will be said.

Same thing that was said last year in the playoff when Clemson waxed Ohio State 31-0....tough match up.

Football is all about matchups. If SC replaces a couple offensive linemen with better players, usc wins that game.
Barrett has been a good player for Ohio State, but his deficiencies passing have made life easy for defensive coordinators. The read option as a base offense is gone because Ohio State doesn’t have a qb that can run it waiting in the wings. I can’t say I’m sad to see it go.

As far as SC not having a good team, they do. Darnold has some things to clean up for sure, but he has an NFL arm and NFL accuracy. When the defensive line lives in your backfield it makes life difficult for any QB. The difference between a National championship caliber team for USC is two offensive lineman. For Ohio State it was a QB who could make the throw into tight windows. Both these teams were in the game they were supposed to be in because of it. It was a fun game for me to watch. I like defense. Most other people probably fell asleep.

True of False Spence said, "Ohio State took SC to the woodshed like an unwanted stepchild." Of course false. Spence, last night SC need more than two linemen replaced.

There is no excuse for not taking care of the football and that was the major issue for SC last night, but if you replace two players on that offensive line with better guys then Ohio State couldn’t have kept Darnald in check. Not having their best corner didn’t help Ohio State much, but the freshman that took his place did ok with some help from the officials letting him get handsy without calling it.

.

Maybe pleasant New Year ... would be Happy, had the `Canes not practically given up for 2 quarters after Rosier threw an interception.

It was an interception that happened on a tip at the line ... get over it, and get back to work. I get that Wisconsin got resuscitated with the pick. But, Really!? There was no reason to play like we had no life in us. The energy just evaporated from both sides of the ball --- And We Were Still Leading the Game at That Point!! --- to seemingly give up that way because of one stupid play! Quit your moping, and act like you want to be here, for cripes sake!

Gosh'friggin'dangit!!

Seems like the story of a decade & a half for Miami.

O'Well ... I hope everyone else has a great New Year.

(I think I'll just go sit in the sulker's lounge with Old Ducker for a bit)

That is how Wisconsin win. They just keep coming and at the end they are a hard and your scratching your head about how it happened.

I noticed the recent t-shirt I bought from the no meat athlete website was made of organic cotton. I dont know if they have pants, but you may can contact them and see if they know where you could get what you are looking for?

What??!?!?? :| :| :|
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
