Stanford - Oregon State

Postby Cane from the Bend » Fri Oct 27, 2017 12:07 am

.

What a game.

Oregon State has been terrible all year. Tonight, they are playing at an accelerated pace.

The Beavers are up 14-9, marching down the field to score and put the game away with 2:50 on the clock, and Oregon State fumbles.

Now, with a last ditch effort, the Cardinal are trying to get the ball into the end zone for the first time tonight.

1 Minute left, 3rd down, inside the Beavers 10 yard line.

Touchdown Stanford, with 20 seconds on the clock ... Stanford is going for 2 ...

Penalty, and a retry.

Stanford goes for the same play all three attempts ... incomplete.

It was the exact same play they scored with ... so Stanford ran the play four time in a row.

Awaiting the kickoff.

The kick goes out of the end zone ...

First down, deep pass sets Oregon State up to get one quick play in order to get into field goal range. 10 seconds left, the Beavers choose to spike the ball ... 8 seconds to go.

Next play, deep pass gets Oregon State closer ... but not close enough for the field goal, only 3 seconds left ... Timeout called.

Final play, Drop back Hailmary Pass ... Stanford intercepts the ball on the one ... game over ... Stanford wins 15-14.

That was a fun watch.

Stanford needs some fixing. The QB play was very erratic all game long. The defense did enough to prevent an inspire Beavers from really making them pay.

Oregon State played better than I've seen all season ... Their defense created some situations that gave them a chance to win, getting a couple of turnovers, and stopping some plays behind the line of scrimmage. Those tackles for loss really stifled Stanford.

In the end, it was Stanford's stripping the ball late when Oregon ST was running down the clock, moving towards scoring field position, that won the game.

Thursday Night College Football shows out again.

You aren't kidding.

I'm still trying to wind down. I'm hoping this Saturday will be like this ...

Except where the Hurricanes are concerned --- I'd like to see the Tar Heels lose by 60 this week. 8)

Tomorrow night may be a decent watch also ... though will be difficult to keep up with each game, as they are all 8 pm start times.

Tulane @ #24 Memphis
Florida State @ Boston College
Tulsa @ SMU

I'm really looking forward to the BC/FSU game ... can the `Noles turn it around? Can Boston College keep up this level of competitiveness?

We shall see.

FSU is limping...the offensive line has been decimated by injury...the QB is still learning...six starters out last week...FSU is favored by 3...but it will be a tough night.

Did not see the Oregon State game...looks like I missed another great game. We were out with friends listening to a live blues jam...

ITs tough for a team with so much promise to have the series of events that have plagued Florida State.
