Ugh! I Can't Take It ...

Postby Cane from the Bend » Sat Oct 07, 2017 7:35 pm

I am 43 as of 2 days ago ...
Yesterday, I felt maybe 35.
Today, I feel 75.

I think these games are prematurely aging me.

Nice game by fsu ... The `Noles played well. Their defense is every bit as advertised. I feel that fsu was the better team on the field, and Miami was living breath by breath, waiting on the game breaking play.

As for play makers ... the most talk surrounding the `Canes seems to unfairly revolve around Mark Walton, who yes, is a game changing player. But not nearly enough focus goes to WR Braxton Berrios, who has made several season saving plays since the Toledo game. He may very well be the most important player on the Miami offense.

The `Canes just got one extra big play, and one review at the end there that was just too hard for the replay booth to over turn. This probably should have went into overtime; the `Noles likely would have won ... but that's conjecture, I know.

I 'll take the win anyway.

LOL...hey youngster...let me tell you...you'll have a good heart if you live to be my age.

I was once your age...but the games with Miami (starting when you were a baby) forged my heart of steel.

...the 9-10 game of 1980...the 16-17 game of '83, the 25-26 game of '87, the 16-17 of '91, 16-19 of '92....24-27 of 2000, 27-28 of 2002, 14-16 of 2003, 10-7 of 2005, 13-10 of 2006, 41-39 of 2008, 34-38 of 2009, 23-19 of 2011, 30-26 of 2014, 29-24 of 2015, 20-19 of 2016...and this year...

I don't know of another historic rivalry that has put together so many games since 1980 with a four point or less differential....

That is rather amazing! I would doubt it, that is almost every other year.

Doubt it....but don't bet against it....the record is the record.

And look at the last few years...

2017...24-20...in last six seconds

2016...20-19

2015...29-24

2014...30-26

I don't know if there is another annual major rivalry that has had as often two so evenly matched teams since 1980.

Sorry for lack of clarity. I doubt any other rivalry series could match that number of squeakers.

Nothing like what Miami has been doing. No playoff spot on the line, no conference title to play for but Army has won the last two games with defensive stops on the final play of the game. Stopping the 2 pt conversion last week, a 2 min passing drill  to tie it this week, win in OT. This is a fun year for Black Knight fans, its been a long time since Army put together back to back bowl eligible seasons. Have to win the CIC or its tainted like the Warriors 73 win season. Bye week to prep for the first test.

Well....

FSU lost yesterday with Louisville scoring leaving five seconds on the clock...improving from the Miami game where there were six seconds left.

Lest you think I don't know the horse is dead and my compulsion to keep beating it has waned, during the half-time of the Boise State - Wyoming game, which started at the ridiculous time of 8:15 PM MDT which would be 10:15 in the only time zone that matters to ESPN, the NCAA, and Tammany Hall, ESPN has their new rankings for this week. Games on the West Coast are not over but the entire 3/4's of the Continental USA plus the Upper One, which has no football teams, and those islands where all the linemen are 350 lbs plus, no matter how ineffective, are summarily dismissed. "Oh there were no games of consequence," you say, which of course is not true, e.g. Washington State was not even at half-time because games are still being played. ESPN's Finebaum publically expunged us and obviously was just Walt Disney's shill.

This will be good until next week,...maybe.

P.S. There was some incredibly bad football played on the West Coast yesterday.

I love those Tongans....but they aren't a Florida type presence in terms of recruiting.

Love Hawaii even though they stole from the Maori and their Haka is a New Zealand tradition

My ticker has been badly abused watching the NFL this year. They're all close in the NFL but this year has been especially brutal.
