This is about basketball and how corrupt the AAU is, but you know this is going to reach football too. This is about a toothless NCAA; it is the FBI who has subpoena power and the ability to put you in jail and blow the whole system up. It is about time and no doubt will touch every major conference, maybe even d1 school. It's time to blow it all up. As in everything this is about a a microcosm of life in general and if they would blow up the way our political system does business the same way I would cheer even louder.

Self-policing in sports, as well as most large organizations, has not worked. It is ludicrous to think it does and I agree, this will not stop with basketball.

Yes, the "fall on the sword" and protect the system that the schools and coaches have used for years is about to be blown out of the water. The threat of incarceration is on the table now. The birds will be singing loudly as the pressure is applied. If only they would do this in congress and blow the lid off all of the corruption that has spoiled our country for the last 60 years.

Yes... Unfortunately, though, there is a law, which allows one to lie, even in court matters, as long as it has a political agenda.

It is the reason GMO companies are able to continue putting out there product without any warnings of potential health risks. Did you know, in Genetically Modified Vegetables the FDA isolated a unique compound never before found, that they labeled it "Obesicide"..? Literally, it is a new compound chemical found only in Genetically Modified Vegetables, that build fat cells.

And because of lackadaisical FDA regulations, and lawyers for gmo companies continuing to argue in court cases that the issues meet political criteria; corporate lackeys can lie under other without the possibility of jeopardizing their testimony by perjury.

It is the same reason politicians are able to slanderize their opponents without being held liable by legal means. It is also the same reason they are allowed to lie about their intentions while campaigning for your vote, then wind up pulling a John McCain, and going against everything they tell their constituents they plan to change.

Abolish that one law, and the whole system gets washed.

If the news stories are correct??? The NCAA found out about all of this on Tuesday as did the rest of the world. I see this as one of two things, both bad.

1. The NCAA had no idea about the investigation because the FBI thought they might be involved or had knowledge of it. (Not sure I believe that)

2. The FBI decided early on that the NCAA could not be trusted and best to actively keep them in the dark. (This I believe)

Now that it is out in the open, I suspect the FBI will be all over the NCAA records like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

The FBI didn't trust the NCAA because they can't do anything without leaking it.

Cane, as someone who is in the food business, there are very few lab created genetically modified foods. There are only about 7. But genetically modified - as in picking seeds from the types of fruits and vegetables that are most desirable has been happening since people have decided to grow food. It isn't necessarily a bad thing. A natural selection of the most desidered types of products. That is also considered genetically altered as it is different that the original product. Watermelon is a good example.

Anyone that thinks seedless watermelons taste as good as the ones with seed, which are no longer available, never ate the latter.

Seedless is an example, but not what I am talking about. Watermelon started out greenish on the inside and through selecting the more reddish fruit and planting those seeds we got solid red centers. You can still by watermelon that isn't seedless. I get them all the time.

Oregon grows a lot of watermelons.... none to be found with seeds.

NOW.

This article is terrible. Paying athletes will fix the problem? Corruption and immorality has nothing to do with anything moral decay, etc. Every system needs to reduce temptation...but how about worrying about character before wins and losses. Just think of all the coaches that went in an cleaned up corrupt programs only to have bad following years and then got fired. Time to start hiring some University Presidents whose balls are not in the duffel bags of boosters, fans and TV revenue.

Seeds are part of the experience with watermelon's. No seeds...no watermelon.

I am glad that this is coming to light. Is it mean spirited for me to hope someone goes to jail?
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

No Derek, it would rather be applauded.

Something serious needs to occur in order to force the system makers feel the severity of the scrutiny they could be exposed to.

Someone is going to jail. probably not many names you will recognize. The names you know are not who the FBI cares about. They will however make those guys roll over on the guys they want to put in jail and they will because this isn't a toothless do nothing NCAA it is the FBI and it will blow the whole system up. As is should. We are about to learn more about the corrupt side of college sports than we ever thought we would know.

The big money is in basketball....

It is basketball players who sign shoe contracts...not really football guys.

And, one or two elite basketball players can make a championship run team...not so in football where you need a village.
“If short hair and good manners won football games, Army and Navy would play for the national championship every year.”

The TV money is in Football, though --- and where the TV ratings are higher, there is a bigger market place.

Gatorade & Under Armour are among many sports product companies who sell products other than shoes, that advertise heavy toward football viewers. There are many endorsement deals out there for nfl stars. So, just because it hasn't been under the microscope, doesn't mean the infection doesn't exist.
