It was prior to Golden's release. And I would say, at the time, the talent on both teams were mostly comparable. Golden either did a terrible job evaluating recruits ... or was simply unable to translate what he wanted from the recruits he did pull in.
He also ignored the recruiting base of South Florida, looking at how many stars a high school prospect had, instead of how well those kids would fit into his scheme [especially regarding the O-line].
Both Dalvin & Derrik Henry wanted to play for Miami. Both said they went elsewhere because nobody on Miami's coaching staff would contact them.
One Heisman trophy winner, and another Heisman finalist ... And they would have both been Hurricanes at the same time.
