Sun Belt Champions Locked Out

No bowl game for Georgia Southern. They sent an appeal to the NCAA only to get shot down twice. I sort of understand why the rule is there, maybe to prohibit reckless moves on the parts of FCS teams, but really? Maybe add a disclaimer that if you win your conference in your first year, you're good to go. Georgia Southern missed Arkansas State and UL Lafayette, but they basically drummed every Sun Belt foe they came across. Appalachian State also had a miraculous turnaround at the midway point in the season after dropping a game to Liberty. They were kind of left for dead at 1-5 and after a disappointing season in the FCS last year, things weren't looking up. Somehow, they reeled off six straight wins to close out the year by beating Arkansas State and they also managed to upset Lafayette. The Mountaineers are 7-5 and they won't be bowling either.

And on a side note, Old Dominion finishes the year at 6-6. No bowl for them either. This year's FCS crop might have a bright future ahead of them.
Running bowl/MSU/OSU record '05-present: 11-32
