well hifly....in basketball many of the lesser lights have a shot...if they can win and beat the big boys.....but you have to go back 33 years to find a team, other than UConn or Villanova, who is not a current P5, who weathered the tournament and won a NC.

Meaning, if the Committee sees bigger dollar signs with a rematch in the title game, and they think Georgia is the team who will be the safest bet to move on, and believe Oklahoma is the least likely of the teams to advance; then the committee will pit them against each other in the semifinals, and cross their fingers that Notre Dame beats Ohio State.

This is unfortunately EXACTLY how their thinking works. They don't care about the 4 best teams. I don't like this at all. The computers, or the old bowl system, were better. Let the smack talk happen in the off season like it used to.

They don’t know who the 4 best teams are - not now, not ever. I am one who hates rematches. I think there are too many teams to let two teams that have played, play again.

Spence, I agree with you ... It's just easier to build a story around redemption from the regular season, rather than create a "they deserve to be hear" angle between teams who've not played ... unless the story is, these two teams have never played in the history of their programs.

It isn't cynicism if it is true - and it is true. In terms of this year Oklahoma beat Ohio State. We know how that ended. I don't need to see the rematch. If Ohio State loses again, it proves they shouldn't be there. If they win, the prove nothing except maybe Oklahoma really didn't belong. I also don't believe two teams from the same conference should make it. There are too many teams for two teams from the same conference to make it. Can two teams from the same conference be part of the 4 best teams - yes . I say so what. Only one can be the best anyway so lets find another team that may also deserve to be in the top 4. They need to get rid of the committee and have a playoff that any team good enough can climb the ladder to the championship or go back to the bowls and mnc. The current system is just the old one with two extra games.
