THOUGHTS
I am a new poster here...and folks on this board are knowledgable and provide interesting conversation....a good board. I have never had a lot of patience for posters who denigrate other posters, call folks names, and exhibit other behaviours that, I guess, provides a weak ego some satisfaction. My ...

LOL
Georgia was lucky...FSU's QB overslept and missed a final exam and Bowden suspended him for the bowl...FSU's #2 QB had an injured shoulder and couldn't throw worth a hoot. FSU ended up playing their best WR at QB (who never took a college snap as a QB)... FSU ,even without a QB, put up 18 first down...

Nope
Nope...FSU's schedule included Troy and Sewanee in addition to the four actual Dixie Conference opponents... "was formed with nine schools: Florida State, Howard, Lambuth, Mercer, Millsaps, Mississippi College, Oglethorpe, Stetson and Tampa. Five of the schools had football teams: Florida State, Mil...

Even FSU which only goes back half as far as many schools
FSU, which was still a girl's school until it took returning WWII GI's ...put up strange schedules when it started football in '47...joined the Dixie Conference in '48 and won three straight conference titles...over teams like Troy State, Stetson, Tampa, Mississippi College , Sewannee...also played ...

It's funny what may or may not be "captured"
When you look at "lifetime histories" there can be some variance... Like Amos Alonzo Stagg's illustrious career at Chicago U. (a power in it's time, includes some strange wins counted for in his career (and Chicago's) total...if you do not "backward" count just "IA"...which did not exist at the time...

Since the NCAA didn't crown a national champion
There have been many National Champions..all sorts of sources have picked the #1......heck, Princeton can "claim" 15 national championships (take that, Miami, LOL)..

The proof is in the pudding
A ranking system purports to display the relative strength of one team versus others....If the system predicts "winners" of games at a very high rate, I'd rate the algorithim as a "good" one. The best algorithmns are picking winners in 3/4 of the games....now, when you factor in how many mismatches ...

I don't really follow the "conference strength" bi
The reasons why I have a hard time following a reward for conference SOS is that teams play schedules and not conferences and the variability within conferences is great...if you play a weak schedule because your conference opponents are weak, it should show up in your schedule strength (TEAM SOS).....

I hate the idea of a play off
We, as Americans love champions. We have a desire to have some team declared as #1, aqnd declared without dispute. But...I love college football because every game in the season is meaningful...unlike basketball where it's about getting an invite to "the dance". We all watch other conferences and ot...

According to the computer rankings...predicting bowl winners is a lot different than regular season....more difficult to call winners, and the system that scored best as a predictor in regular season may not be on top predicting bowl winners.

What I mean
Mountainguy...what I mean is that Massey and Wolfe are two of the systems used by the BCS...and In 2005 were two of the poorest in prediction.

Human Polls
I am not against human polls like the AP or Coaches because they are not far off the better computer polls... BUT...I do think there needs to be "transparency"....some accountability in voting....sometimes politics affects the voting... We, in Tallahassee, went wild one year when it was revealed tha...

Predictors
The better ranking systems seem to correctly predict the winner of the game from .75 to .71 percent of the games. There seems to be some "movement" from year to year in sytems ranking.... In 2004, Sagarin topped computer programs in prediction...his program correctly called the winner of the most ga...
