Re: 11-2 RECORD, NO TOP 25 RANKING...

I am no ranking specialist by any means. I like to explore all aspects of college football rankings though, especially computer rankings. Looking at Sagarins' rankings, he has Michigan State at #31. WOW! I know the Spartans lost one of the regular season games by a huge margin, and they were blown ...

Re: Does This Seem Off to Any of You?

Michigan ran a similar play a few years back. I don't remember if they went into the stance or it was that nobody moved at the snap.

Re: NCAA Violations for Pryor?

Read the article. I don't see the problem. Seemed like good sense to me. It's the "randomness" of the "contest" that causes the problem. The tickets COULD go anywhere and that's a problem OSU didn't want to get into, so they stopped it. What's the beef?

Re: Giving Bethune-Cookman Some Credit

I think Bethune-Cookman is going to get lit up today by New Hampshire, but what do I know :D I have to agree with Eric on this one. The top four teams in the Colonial Athletic Association each have a chance to win it all. Still, I think it's good that Bethune-Cookman's season was given enough consi...

Re: Top 10 vs Current Top 25 teams

He is surely correct. Going by what the original post stated. Check this though: Colley has Notre Dame at #24. Stanford beat the Irish. So, did five other teams. Is it hard to believe that Colley has the Irish at #24? Notre Dame's opponents have a high winning percentage, so I have no trouble belie...

Re: Data..for what it is worth

Oh, another thing I dug up ealier this morning: Since 2000 in games against majors and mid-majors that finished with the same record (minus the head-to-head game), the major team won 82-8 of those games. Majors and mid-majors with equal records usually aren't equal. If you subract a win from the maj...

Re: Data..for what it is worth

Misc info from 2000-2010: I-AA teams that go to the I-AA playoffs are 19-22 against mid-majors that finish with a losing conference record. Mid-majors with a winning conference record are 99-142 against majors with a losing conference record. Mid-majors with a .666 conference winning percentage or b...

Re: Total Offense vs Ranked Opponents

Well...there are only 25 slots nationally for ranked teams...take out the seven or so always allotted (tongue in cheek) for the SEC and that means unless you are playing SEC teams, you don't have a bunch of ranked teams to play. Half the teams that finished in the top 10 in the last decade had play...

Re: Total Offense vs Ranked Opponents

I came across this on a Razorback message board. The only thing I took from it is Arkansas' offense has played well against quality opponents. I guess the other thing it shows is several highly ranked teams have played weak schedules (1 or 2 ranked opponents). Perhaps these opponents are unranked b...

Re: Home field advantage

Over the last 5 years in conference: Mountaineers Home: +11 (14-3) (0.824) Mountaineers Away: +12 (13-5) (0.722) I thought the Eers would be a bit better at Home but they have not shown that. The faithful always say there is too much partying in Morgantown! But the winning is better in Morgantown, ...
