Re: So Predictable-Playoff Poll Ratings

...and the "committee" looks at "the quality of losses." I get Washington not being there, I do not get A&M being close, no matter how quality was their loss. My point was that TAM's loss was BAD. It was not a "quality loss". They lost by 3 scores. That's BAD. And ...

Re: So Predictable-Playoff Poll Ratings

Not that I care much, but yeah, Washington should be #4. Of the four teams at 4-7, TAM should probably be dead last, not first, based on resume (not subjective 'who's better') TAM - 1 win against a good team (#9 Aub), and TAM's loss was bad, by 3 scores vs #1 WASH - 1 win against a good team (#16 Ut...

Wisconsin Badgers

Captain Obvious prediction: Wisconsin is going to dominate the B1G West in the coming years and will rival the elites of the B1G East. I will be watching Lovie Smith and Mike Reilly (to find their niche) and Pat Fitzgerald (who I think learned something very valuable this year after a long tenure), ...

Re: Ohio State - Wisconsin

This game was riveting. I make a conscious effort to avoid getting attached to any particular team, but this was a dramatic game between two teams I really like to watch (and root for). OSU - I think I like them because of Spence and for a few other reasons. Meyer is to be marveled for a lot of reas...

Re: Close the door, turn out the lights

I rarely post, but read everything (which has not been that much this year). This is far and away the best CFB message board. I think donovan's comment about other boards being dominated by "sophomoric comments and school jingoism" is a comically (and sadly) accurate as an observation can ...

Re: Northern Illinois and Fresno State

If Fresno were to lose to 3 of what are considered the best teams in college football in the same year, by rather close scores; say losses to --- Oregon by 3 - Florida St by 6 - Alabama by 7 --- would you look at Fresno State the same, as if they were to finish this season undefeated, with their cu...

Re: Northern Illinois and Fresno State

I am sarcastic when making MY point...not to avoid what someone may think is an "obvious conclusion". If you don't like my style...scroll on by. I'm not interested in your "style" when making YOUR point. But I do observe that there's no need for certain derisive elements and you...

Re: Where is the line drawn.

Rummel also concludes that the form of government that is least likely to kill its own people, because we exclude war, is democracy. Probably close enough, but I believe he approached it from the other direction, saying that the governments most likely to kill its own people are totalitarian govern...

Re: Where is the line drawn.

Religion has no business being involved in a discussion of science. I agree. Religion is based on faith, whereas science is based on the scientific method that invokes deductive reasoning to the maximal extent. That is why it is quite absurd that so much of modern science has abandoned the tenets o...

Re: Where is the line drawn.

Find a subject we can disagree on...this one didn't work. There have been more atrocities based on religious beliefs than any other motivating force I can think of. That does not mean all religious bodies get brushed with the same broad scope. Actually, the institution that has the distinction of b...

Re: Northern Illinois and Fresno State

Excuse the sarcasm Mr. Duke...but you stepped into on onging argument of 7 years running...I tend to rank on straight power... There's no need to be sarcastic or to avoid the obvious conclusion. All I ask is this: If Fresno played FSU tomorrow, and Fresno actually won on a last second hail mary, wo...

Re: Stats through 11-6

What concerned me most is Miami's OL could not control VT's DL. Their DL is good, but I thought Miami's OL would be more than a match. That was probably as devastating as the turnovers.

Re: Where is the line drawn.

As a high-level observation, and given that traits are clearly genetically inherited, consider the following: If pockets of societies exist separately for a very long time (which is the view of anthropologists), then think how usual it would for no distinguishable differences to exist. Yet, here we ...
