Re: Post Your "Make You Think" Questions

FSU's official dynasty was when they went 14 straight years in the AP top five, and won more games in a decade than anyone ever had...BUT if they hadn't won two NC's, I doubt the dynasty label would have been applied.

Re: FSU & Bluegrass

I was already trying to sneek peeks at Playboys on the news rack....

You youngsters missed YA Tittle, Johnny Unitas, Norm Van Brocklin...and the best of Fran Tarkenton and George Blanda.

And, going back to the 1960 season...I loved Charlie Tolar...known as the Human bowling ball. He bulled into the line, head down and knocking linemen back.

At 5'6", around 200, he was quick through the hole....and he, Billy Cannon and George Blanda won an AFL championship for the Oilers.

Semper Fi Eddie...

USMC Sports Hall of Famer.

And another great link to the greatest announcing team of all time.

Don Meredith also quarterbacked the Cowboys with Lebaron.

FSU & Bluegrass

Since Donovan brought up 'bluegrass"....it brought to mind a little piece of football trivia.

The first national broadcast of FSU was at the Bluegrass Bowl...and it was also the first national broadcast featuring Howard Cosell.

He lost to unranked Auburn, throwing four interceptions...lost to underdog Tennessee...and thus Florida didn't win the division or play in the CCG..

No Heisman...great QB, but lost crucial games.

Re: Post Your "Make You Think" Questions

The Miami teams with Ken Dorsey at QB were very good. Dorsey was not the typical athletic specimen...his arm was not a cannon...he was smart and tough. "PASADENA, Calif. -- His wrists are as wide as shoestrings. The rest of his arm would faint if it ever saw a bicep. His neck is straight out of...

Re: Post Your "Make You Think" Questions

It is kind of confusing for Nole fans..

Who is your main rival?

For almost all, the answer is Florida....for some younger fans, it is Miami.

Re: Post Your "Make You Think" Questions

They beat Georgia (ugly, but did not fold)...they beat LSU...and don't discount A&M who finished #16 Coaches and AP, nor Miss State who finished ranked (Coaches Poll). Oklahoma was taken out early (0-21 1st qtr) and Bama coasted to an 11 point win. One might ask, did Oklahoma's weak schedule not...

Re: Post Your "Make You Think" Questions

Did Alabama’s weak regular season schedule contribute to their blowout loss in the National Title Game??? Weak? Compared to who? BAMA ended up playing 8 top 30 teams (6 in season...two in playoffs). Four top 10 teams (2 in regular season). Alabama played 4 teams in the final Coaches Poll (6 includi...

Maybe I just didn't follow just what the logical fallacy was....

More often on a board is a phallacy.

A spurious statement about the size of one's penis....sometimes expressed indirectly.

I remember when Devaughn Darling died at FSU during an off season work out... Autopsy showed he had sickle cell trait syndrome which contributed to his death.... Parents sued the school for $2 million. Then it got crazy...his twin brother Devard, also played on the team and was found to also have si...

Re: Clemson -v- Alabama

It's a little sad....the Mad Hatter and the Old Ball Coach.... Oh well...SEC...SEC...SEC As you passively aggressively chant SEC, we will recognize that the ACC is their only worthy opponent and give you full accolades that your representative is all you want it to be. In a National Poll, I persona...
